Through birth boards and social media I see women ask a lot about what they should include in their bag for the hospital! I've had three hospital births and here is the list I've adjusted as I've gone along. I also had each of these lists written/printed and ON the bags so as I put something in I could mark it off and if I went Quick into labor so my husband knew what else needed to be grabbed. I liked this so I only took my labor bag in at first. Then when we moved to the postpartum room, he grabbed bag number 2 and then 3 when it was time to go home! Less stuff going between rooms and keeping up with. I hope this list helps give you a baseline and to go from there!
Bag 1 - Labor bag *ID *Insurance Card *Birth Plan *Slippers/socks *nighgown (i had a special one for labor) *birth ball (may not apply) *camera/charger *phone charger *snacks (some providers don't allow but suggest sneaking in!) *Possibly Towels for car ride if water breaks | Bag 2 - Hospital stay for momma *nightgown *robe *slippers *hairbrush *rubberbands *chapstick *toothbrush *toothpaste *deoderant *shampoo *nursing bra *breast pads (MUST! in case your milk comes in while still in hospital) *lansinoh (if you get cracked nipples) *nursing pillow *notebook (i used to write down notes, questions, clean/dirty, nursing side, etc) *going home clothes *nail clippers | Bag 3 - for baby *blanket (if appropriate for weather) *hat (if appropriate) *going home clothes *socks *paci if needed everything else the hospital provided - diapers, wipes, etc |
Did I miss something you couldn't live without? What else would YOU include??
